Oakland Youth/Gary King Jr. Celebration

gkj.jpg

This is a parking lot party celebrating the youth of Oakland, building the awareness of the violence going in our community. This event will also be celebrating Gary King Jr., the 20-year old who was shot and killed by Oakland Police last September. There will be an open mic for young people to rap, sing, dance or just speak about their views on the violence in Oakland. This is a peaceful celebration where creative energy can come together and strengthen the neighborhoods of Oakland.

  1. When will the communities being impacted by rising youth crime become outraged by the easy access to an and the large number of guns in their community?

Why don’t you become angry and raise your voices about this? I guess it is easier to blame the police for the crime and then blame them for the casulties that occur when they do their job to prevent crime.

If adults do not begin taking personal responsiblity and teaching their children to do the same, the young people in these communites will continue to die.

  2. Wake-up! The police are not the problem, ciminals and thugs are the problem!
